38 entries were submitted to our Shop Jig Design Contest that ended Feb. 15, 2013. We
were extremely impressed by the creativity, uniqueness and ingenuity evident in many of the clever designs
shared by these exceptional woodworkers.
Selecting the winners based on creativity, function and clarity of design proved so challenging
that a 4th place was added beyond the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places originally announced, plus multiple entries were
chosen as 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners. In all, 15 prizes are being awarded.
At left is the 1st place winning jig design,
Danny Hellyar's Sliding Board Jack
. Interestingly of all the jigs submitted
that assist in accurately cutting or milling wood, this was the only one intended for use with hand tools. All the others
are used either to hold workpieces being applied to power tools, or to serve as assembly presses.
