Aerosol Finishes
By Alan Noel

When finishing small projects in the shop
aerosols
can really come
in handy. Shellac, lacquer, oil based varnishes and water based
finishes can be bought right off the shelf at well stocked hardware
stores in a vast array of colors and different mediums.
Here are some tips on using aerosols:
-
Be sure to follow the instructions on the can for spraying.
-
Shake the can often during use.
-
Light coats are far better for faster drying times.
-
Good air movement will speed drying.
-
After each use, hold the can upside down and empty the line to keep the nozzle clean and in good
working order.
-
Be sure to keep cans away from heat and dispose of them according to the directions.
-
Get used to the way the nozzle performs on scrap first.
-
Use outdoors or wear a spray mask when using aerosols.
