Detailed Description
Morakniv Swedish Hook Knife
Morakniv Swedish Hook knives are ideal for carving small cups & bowls, spoons, ladles, and other deeply hollowed work. The oiled birch handles are barrel-shaped for a good grip when carving.
The stainless steel blades run the length of the handles so they'll always be firmly attached.
Hook Knife Types
- The Number 162 hook Knife has a 2.0mm (5/64") thick blade curved to an internal radius of 15mm (9/16").
It has cutting edges on both sides of the blade so it can be used left- or right-handed. Overall length is 162mm (6-3/8").
Blade length† is 52mm (2-1/16"). Blade width is about 13mm (9/16").
It is well-suited for spoons for those wanting to use a double-edged knife blade.
Comes without a blade cover - so be careful.
- The Number 163 Hook Knife has a 2.0mm (5/64") thick blade curved to an internal radius of 25mm (1").
It has cutting edges on both sides of the blade so it can be used left- or right-handed. Overall length is 177mm (6-15/16").
Blade length† is 67mm (2-5/8"). Blade width is about 13mm (9/16").
It is used for wider, shallower projects like cups & bowls.
Comes without a blade cover - so be careful.
- The Number 164 Hook Knife has a 2.5mm (1/8") thick blade curved to an internal radius of 12mm (1/2").
It has one cutting edge and is available in right- and a left-handed configuration. (The knife is pulled towards your body with the cutting edge down.
Right-hand version in your right hand. Left-hand version in your left hand.) The back side of the blade is blunt and can be used to to safely apply additional force to the knife.
Overall length is 160mm (6-5/16"). Blade length† is 50mm (2"). Blade width is about 13mm (9/16") at its
widest and tapers to about 7mm (9/32") with a flat tip that curves into the cutting edge. It is used for small, tightly
curved projects, like small spoon bowls. Comes without a blade cover - so be careful.
We recommend the 164 if you're new to carving since the single edge is safer than a double sided blade.
Additional Information
† Blade length refers to the distance from the ferrule of the tool to its maximum reach at the tip, not the overall length of the curved blade.
These knives were previously sold under the brand name Frosts. Mora of Sweden no longer uses that brand name for these tools, but they are the same high quality carving knives.
