up throughout the day under the big top in our parking lot for a FREE
demonstration of traditional methods of working wood for everyone in attendance
at Highland's big 30th birthday celebration. The main attraction will be Roy
making shavings and magic using what he calls his carbon-neutral, alcohol-powered
reciprocating lathe for bowl and spindle turning. You may get a chance to try it
yourself! See how to start with a tree and use traditional tools to make
mechanical marvels of maple and persimmon! Don't miss this opportunity to witness

Here's a unique opportunity to learn how to make your own wooden screws from
America's most famous master woodwright! Working from early French wood turning
manuals, we'll first see how to make the tools to make wooden nuts and bolts. Roy
will then demonstrate how to chase threads on the lathe, make iron and wooden
taps, and shape and harden cutters for screw boxes. After this class is over,
you'll have the know-how to produce anything from 1/4" wooden set screws to
large wooden bench vise & cider press screws cut with the giant French besaigue
chisel. Guaranteed to be a woodworking class you'll never forget. Class size is limited, so please register early to avoid disappointment.
