Here's My Woodturning!

by Michelle Richards

I have been a wood turner for a quarter of a century and make my living at it. I turn chairs (windsor, etc) bowls, vases, etc.

After all these years of woodworking and turning, I was tired of bowls & hollow forms and set out to try something brand new.

I have always been fascinated by Weissflog & Fein's work. I did not have the mechanical genius of Mr. Fein, nor the steady hands of Mr. Weissflog, but I decided to go do a Michelle version of their work, with just regular shop tools. It took many months and many trials and many errors to get to the pieces shown here.

I am still developing my process, as there is a lot to think about all at once!

As you can see, this mahogany, walnut & mesquite piece which I call "Eye of the Storm"
(two photos above) is a bowl, although that may not be obvious from the first view.
