Duct Tape and Sandpaper Tip

Well I'm not too old to learn a new trick! I overheard one of our customers explaining how he uses duct tape (the world's fix-it tape) and sandpaper together. Needless to say I was intrigued.
He puts duct tape on the back of the sandpaper so he can cut it into various width strips. He uses it to clean rusty drill bits. Why not use it to sand wood turnings? I tried it using white duct tape, which was all I had at the time. I cut several widths and found I could get into coves around beads and small v-grooves without rolling over the edges and without heating up the turning or my hands. I use it like an old time shoe shiner buffing a customer's shoe. What a clever idea! Thank you Highland Woodworking customer!
It works for me.
