I have been turning for 18 years. It is by far the most fun and addictive hobby I have ever had. Wood has always been a
big part of my life starting in high school. Growing up in a small town in Texas my family had a
good friend that was a housing contractor/carpenter. I always loved the things he would make for
people and when he made things for me I felt very lucky. He had an old Craftsman lathe in his
shop and that was the first time I can remember trying to turn things. With no experience or
guidance I was not very successful in my attempts as a wood turner.
Fast forward to 1998 when I had my first wood turning lesson. It was like turning on a
light switch. For the first time I actually made wood shavings instead of dust. Since then I have
had a growing desire to learn more new things about turning. I have always liked making
things as well as art items. It is my belief that if you don't try new things you will never grow, so I like
trying to do things I have never done before.
I had a customer ask for a Vince Lombardi Trophy made from wood. Since I like to learn new things I said yes. For the first time I used a drawknife, a scorp and cabinet scrapers. I also did some carving for the first time.

My neighbor sells art supplies all over the United
States and he ask me to make a 4' artist paint brush
to be hung over the brush display in one of his
customer's shops. They did the painting on it.
