Using an Automatic Center Punch in Woodturning
By Phil Colson

There is a tool I use all the time that I have taken for granted. I figure all turners know about the
Automatic Center Punch
.
I was introduced to this tool eighteen years ago by Nick Cook. My
Starrett Automatic Center Punch
lives in my
Shop Smock
and
I use it all the time.
Find the center of your turning blank and push the punch's tip down and a
permanent impression is left on dry or wet wood. It makes it easier to see the center of the blank when lining up the center
on the drive.
It works for me.
