Liberon 4/0 Steel Wool

You might hope that steel wool could just be steel wool, but even in this humble finishing backwater there's a clear hierarchy of quality. The difference between Liberon and other steel wool is so striking that a few seconds use is all it takes for any user to reach the same conclusion. Liberon steel wool is smoother, softer, more consistent and more durable than any other brand you've tried. It is 4/0 grade, the equivalent of extremely fine 400 to 600 grit sandpaper. It does a superb job of rubbing out new finishes, cleaning and polishing old ones, and applying wax wherever it's used.

Each sleeve of Liberon supplies a single continuous roll, which lets you cut off just as much as you need for any given job. Wrap it around a wooden block for rubbing out flat surfaces, or make a small hand pad for rubbing or cleaning moldings. Use it with a rubbing lubricant such as Murphy's Oil Soap to produce a beautifully smooth satin finish on lacquer, water-based acrylics or polyurethane. A bit of Liberon 4/0 and a dab of wax will polish lightly damaged finishes back to like-new luster with a minute's light work. Gentler and smoother than medium gray Scotch-Brite pads, and equally smooth but faster acting then fine white pads, Liberon 4/0 steel wool is an essential ingredient in the complete finisher's arsenal. (Note: an 8-roll sleeve of ordinary 4/0 steel wool weighs about 225 grams).
