Lie Nielsen's small router plane is now available in the closed-throat style which provides excellent stability when planing narrow surfaces.
When the smaller classic model was first introduced a few years ago, Lie Nielsen accomplished a radical improvement in Stanley's classic small router plane design. With its 1/4" cutter, Lie Nielsen's 271 is the right answer for shallow relief work like hinge mortises, lock plates and inlay work.
Dimensions are 2" x 4". Unbreakable ductile iron only, O1 blade with 1/4" wide square tip. Weight: .55 lbs. Made in the U.S.A.
Lee Laird from Lie Nielsen Tools Works produces an instructional series on hand plane use and care and has much more to say about Lie-Nielsen's 271 Router Planes. Read Lee's complete review of the Lie-Nielsen 271 Router Plane on the Highland Woodworking Blog.
Please Note: some pictures above show the open throat router plane. It is not available at this time.
