I am always looking for tools that make my work easier, faster and better. We ran an ad for the Mirka Sanding Blocks and Half-Round Pads in our
August 2013 Highland Woodturner
. I bought the small round domed Mirka Sanding Block and started using it for hand sanding. What a joy! It fits perfectly in the palm of my hand, has a solid feel and is easy to hold. It has a velcro surface so all the 3" sanding pads you use will fit. I use it on bowls, inside and out, hollow forms, t-lights, you get the idea. I still power sand and before I move up a grit, I random orbit hand sand to remove those grits marks. The
Mirka 3" Hand Sanding Block
always sits next to my lathe and is always within reach. If you wet sand, Mirka has the same dome pad with a sponge inside. I love this tool. You should try it too.
Happy turning.
