Another Testimonial for the WOOD SLICER
I started using a 1/2" wide Wood Slicer bandsaw blade last night for the first time.
What a joy to use! The first piece of 5" wide maple was resawn very easily. By the time I had cut a
third piece of maple the edges produced were nearly as smooth as results achieved with a good
jointer. The blade cut through a 2" wide knot without burn marks, negligible slowdown and very smooth
results. I was extremely pleased with the results of the Wood Slicer bandsaw blade. Thanks! —

By Steven D. Johnson,
Racine, Wisconsin
This month our Down to Earth Woodworker, Steven Johnson, finally gives us a tour of his current Down to Earth
Workshop (just as he is moving out!), and then lets us in on some of the "Un"handy discoveries he has made while making updates on the home he
recently purchased. He also offers a thorough review of the Festool HEPA filtration dust extraction system, and begs you not to refer to it
as a vacuum.

I have acquired a family plane. It is rusted and has been neglected for some time. I am

how to do this?

Confessions of a Lumberholic
By Dick Rank
If you look at my woodshop, it is really crowded with tools, and lumber is stashed everywhere. In
fact, it is getting hard to walk around in there. Last week, some events happened that made me admit
that I need help. Somehow I need to stop buying lumber.

Charles Brock and his Sculptured Rocker Visit the Martha Stewart Show
Martha's brother Eric Scott built his first sculptured rocker at Charles Brock's first 7-day
Windsor chair workshop at Highland Woodworking last year. That connection helped lead to a Martha
Stewart show devoted entirely to woodworking. Yes, that's Chuck coaching Martha on how to use a
French Auriou rasp to shape a rocker spindle.
