Making a Finishing Turntable
By Curtis Turner
Round Rock, TX

Here's a simple shop improvement project that is making my life much easier when applying finish to one of my completed turnings. It's a Lazy Susan that allows me to easily rotate a project so I can apply the finish uniformly on all sides. (I'll also include an extra tip that simplifies sanding a workpiece before applying finish).

Custom Oneway Lathe
By Tom Soles
Washington, DC

When I retired in 2001 I started to look for that perfect setup that would allow me to turn very large bowls. After looking for 9 years, I finally decided on a Oneway 2436 from Canada. But that was just the beginning.

Rikon 70-300 16" x 42"
Elec. Var. Speed Lathe
Regular $1799.99,
ON SALE for $1499.99

If you've been fantasizing about stepping up to a larger, heavier-duty, more powerful lathe, (but don't want to invest the big bucks that a Oneway would cost), the Rikon 70-300 is probably the best value in a good lathe you'll find anywhere. Sale quantity is limited.
